I have been SO looking forward to tonight's citizen's police academy class...we learned about the K9 Unit. These dogs are amazing...Also in tonight's class Sara and I somehow are now Co-Leaders for the class...funny stuff...We also got our official shirts (with our names and a badge embroidered on them, I might add)...

I geared up to be attacked...This is kinda unlike me...I'm generally not very daring...but for some reason I was so pumped about doing this...

I was the first from my class to do the exercise. I had to get the decoy outfit on and that was quite hilarious how I had to "hop" into it...Apparently with all the laughter in the background, others thought this was funny too...I appreciated the officer's help, but if a guy is putting something on my feet, I'd prefer it not be plastic sacks...maybe a glass slipper...hmmm....

Here I am all geared up and practicing the stance the officers told me:

And here I'm getting specific directions and asking things like, "the dog isn't going to bite my nose of is he? Should I still have these plastic baggies on my feet? Should I take the pork chop out of my pocket? The dog does know the command for stop tearing off her arm, right?"

And I wait...but, be honest with me folks, does this outfit make my butt, legs and arms look big?

Here's what you've been waiting for...THE ATTACK! Yeah...glad the officer was there to hold me up...

After the dog clinched onto my fleshy tricep (aka my grandma-ish underarm flab) he made his way to my elbow...once he released I pulled my arm in and let him get the arm of the jacket...

Now since the attack is over I have to get out of the decoy suit to let the next person go...this was quite hi-larious also...but at least I had help...one officer holding my hands and the other taking off the pants...this taken out of context could be viewed as inappropriate...but I was ok with it...I did lose a shoe in the process...maybe I am Cinderella after all....hmm...

Here are three of us volunteers showing our bruises...honestly...there are bruises...but apparently by my grimacing look I'm the only one that thinks it kinda hurts...

Can't wait until next week!

Update: Here is my arm the next day...I told you I had a bruise...make that bruises...

Wow, you're sure a lot braver than I!!!

March 9, 2009 at 2:20 AM

How awesome is that? Well, not so much about the leaving bruises and being attacked by a police dog, but I mean, unless you're a robber, who gets to have that experience? Consider yourself VERY brave!

March 9, 2009 at 2:48 AM

you are brave, but it kind of looks like fun!

March 9, 2009 at 4:31 AM

Great story and kudos to you for all you are doing.

March 9, 2009 at 8:13 AM

OMGoodness! I'm not sure I could do this. You are brave.

You're braver then I am.

Congrats on being featured.

March 9, 2009 at 8:38 AM

I was so terrified of dogs as a kid...I totally couldn't do it!

Wow, that is awesome! I give you props, there's no way I could have done that! Happy SITS day! Love your blog!

March 9, 2009 at 8:54 AM

Okay I admit I totally do not get the reasoning behind this! But that's probably the analytical Virgo comin' out in me who would clearly talk myself right on out of doin' somethin' like this at all. Thou art much braver than I!

Happy SITS Day.

March 9, 2009 at 8:59 AM

How brave of you! I don't think I can allow a dog to attack me. The fear of the dog getting thru the armour would make me stop. I am such a wimp:)

Enjoy your SITS day!

March 9, 2009 at 9:01 AM

Yikes, I would have been terrified and I am not afraid of dogs! Good for you!
Happy SITS day!

March 9, 2009 at 9:02 AM

March 9, 2009 at 9:04 AM

Brave gal! Yikes!

March 9, 2009 at 9:10 AM

March 9, 2009 at 9:24 AM

It's all fun and games until someone gets an arm ripped off...

Happy SITS Day!

March 9, 2009 at 9:24 AM

We took the students to a field trip once on an army base and they showed us the canine team. When the officer explained the dogs were drug sniffers, a few kids sat real far away...

March 9, 2009 at 9:24 AM

First, you are just lovely.

Third, wow, serious bruising going on.

March 9, 2009 at 9:30 AM

Nope. Doesn't make your butt look big.

It does make your head look like the cherry on a sundae, though...

March 9, 2009 at 9:35 AM

Stopping by from SITS!
You are brave! No way would I ever do that! Did the dog know it was just an exercise? Or was he really into it?!

March 9, 2009 at 9:37 AM

Whoa, that looked fun, and scary, and painful! Yikes!

March 9, 2009 at 9:40 AM

Wow I could never do that. I have seen it done but I say Cheers to you. Way to go.

March 9, 2009 at 9:42 AM

March 9, 2009 at 11:18 AM

You are crazy! I'd be scared to death!

March 9, 2009 at 11:30 AM

Not in a million years would I do something like that. You are one brave cookie!! I have to say I think you have a "master list" of things you want to do before you die. You are checking them off one by one. Good job for being adventurous!!

March 9, 2009 at 11:40 AM

Holey moley, you're brave! I could never do something like that.

March 9, 2009 at 11:46 AM

Holy Hannah! What a woman. Yeah, you're brave. Very impressive. I'm too wimpy. What was that teaching anyway? How to get bit by a dog properly? Or just that you can accomplish things you wouldn't have thought possible? I'd love to know.

March 9, 2009 at 12:04 PM

I would of been scared to death, even in that fat suit!

March 9, 2009 at 12:08 PM

Oh my goodness!

March 9, 2009 at 12:49 PM
