Ok...now I can reveal what my department was for Halloween:

We were Gladys (Cruz) Knight and the Pips...We have 1 guy in our office and 5 ladies...Mr. Cruz had to be Gladys...It was too funny!

We had records all over our walls, cds hanging from the ceiling and a walk of fame on the floor... Here's Gladys holding her Grammy...He was such a sport...the tattoos on his arms were a great touch! Here is my star... My solo PIP pic...I know that the Pips did not have blond hair...but I do... :)

Gladys and the Pips were on a reunion tour today as well...We went around to all of the classrooms and performed Midnight Train to Georgia...This first video is part of our group getting warmed up...pay attention to the end of the video...because one of the Pips wipes out...kinda...(be sure you can hear the audio)

This next video clip is our first performance...yeah...we should have practiced...Gladys didn't know the words...but knew how to ad lib...In one class we had to wait a bit before we could start the performance...so he started explaining why he got his tattoos...He pointed to one on his arm and said he got it after his first Grammy...the one on the other arm, he got while on the midnight train to Georgia...and the one on his back was after his first platinum album...such a ham! His dress was an old bridesmaid dress of mine...It also sounds like everytime he says the Pips...he's saying pimps...

I am really a Step-Pip with my blond afro...I felt like I was a clown...but it just added to the humor...I feel like I stick out because of the hair...but also because I am taller than the folks in my office...in fact, when there is something to do where height is needed...they request my "Feather Skills" to get it done...

Remember...we got our Grammy for our singing...not choreography...

In order to get to all of the classrooms, we had to drive over to another part of our campus...So...4 'fros and 1 beehive pile into a PT Cruiser (that kinda sounds like a beginning of a joke)...Afterward we went to Sonic for Happy Hour...and boy did we get some looks...ha!

Another department were all Batman characters...they decorated their offices and hallway like Gotham City...

We had the 80's girls with krimpers and all! Ahoy! That's Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth...
Follow the Yellow brick road....

A leaf is our logo at work...so he is our mascot---the Fighting Leaf...along with another 80's girl...

The Inmates: They did a really good job with their decorations too...the pictures along the wall are mugshots... Sara the Inmate along with Feather the Pip.... Finally a smile from me...I guess I thought Pips had to be all serious (even when a scarecrow is squishing my 'fro in my eye)...Here I am with Scarecrow (aka Micah)...

All departments totally raised the bar for next year...I better start planning now! Hope everyone else enjoyed their holiday as much as I did! We should find out on Monday which department won the most votes from students....GO Gladys and the Pips!!!!

OK...so week 2 with the confessional...how many weeks does it take for it to become a habit???

--I shouldn't even be typing this because I have SOOO many other things I should be doing...ironing my costume for tomorrow...cleaning because I'm hosting a baby shower at my house on Saturday...but here I sit and type...but at least I confessed what I SHOULD be doing...

--I have missed at least 3 opportunities to take pictures of people in "What Not to Wear" ensembles...and no, they weren't dressed up for Halloween...I have GOT to get better at having my camera or phone handy...these outfits were classic...and no...I wasn't wearing them...

--I only took my lunch to work 1 day this week...so that meant eating out...

--I left an item that was a dollar at the check out at Target...and I actually called to see when I could go and get it...how pathetic...I still haven't gone to get it...and I'll probably just repurchase one...

--I am sure there are more...but I cannot think...I need to quit procrastinating and get to sleep...Have a great Halloween! I hope to have my office pics up soon!

UPDATE---I added a post about this year's Halloween...check it out!

I have mentioned in a previous post about how competitive each department is at my work regarding Halloween...Below are some pics of my department last year...Yes, I know...we should have won...But I really think we will this year...Hopefully, I will have pics up over the weekend of our awesome idea...

So last year my department was the whole gang from Scooby Doo! We transformed our office area into the Mystery Machine, and our boss was the Invisible Phantom that we had to capture. In case you're wondering, I'm Scooby.

I even have Scooby Snacks for goodness sakes!
Honestly...a Hispanic Fred...He so pulled it off...
Velma even lost her glasses...
I know we look just like them...but that's not us in that pic of the Mystery Machine...

Yeah...This year it's HI-larious!!! I wish I could tell you now...but some of my co workers are not above cheating...I know this because they cheated last year :) ...So, mum's the word for now...

This week in the Citizen's Police Class we were given demonstrations by the Bomb Squad and the SWAT Team...So, we got to shoot guns!!! I have always wanted to learn how to shoot correctly and well...It has just been something that interests me...I don't plan on going hunting, but shooting at targets in a gun range is something I can definitely get addicted to...

Sara and I are bundled up and ready to learn some artillery skills...

Here I am shooting a Kimber 1911 at the Pepper Popper. I hit them all but the last one... (Yes, I know I am only about 3 feet away from the targets...baby steps, people)

Here I am shooting a semi-automatic something or other...I honestly don't remember the name...an M something...maybe...He has his hand on my back because of the awesome force that practically blew me to the ground...ok...not really, but my stance is probably totally wrong so he didn't want me to fall...and shoot something I shouldn't...

Now for the Charlie's Angel look...Here I have a pistol of some sort...gettin' my aim on...

This one is my favorite pic....with the swirled, thrown up in a half bun hair that means I am so serious about this...look at the earplugs...and eye protection...folks...we aren't playing games here...we mean business...

See the flames?....

Here is where the Bomb Squad blew something up...explosions(controlled ones) are fun...now I guess I understand a little more why boys love to shoot and blow stuff up...it is kinda exciting...

So...now added to my Life To Do List is to start shooting at a gun range...anyone wanna teach me?

Also if you haven't played my music game, please go check it out...Music to My Ears Game I'm really curious about everyone's responses...

I heart all kinds of music...I appreciate good lyrics and love how certain songs speak to me at different times in my life...I would guess the same for you...

Ok...I would like to try a little game...won't you participate??? I have a ton of songs on my playlist (located at the bottom of this page).

Each one could fall into one of these 4 categories for me:

A) Songs I want someone to sing to (about) me.
Example: Everything Else Disappears by Sister Hazel

B) Songs I want to sing to (about) someone (good or bad).
Example: Save up Your Tears by Cher

C) Songs that remind me of growing up.
Example: Every Little Step by Bobby Brown

D) Just plain fun.
Example: If I Had a Million Dollars by Barenaked Ladies

Now for the game:

My player is set on random. Click the arrow so you hear 3 songs. (you don't have to listen to the whole song if you don't want to :) ) Comment and let me know what 3 songs came up for you and tell me if they hold any special meaning to you. If there's a song that I don't have you think I should add, let me know!

Thanks for playing along! If you have a player try this and see what your readers think about your music choices :)

OK...I don't know if I will do this every week...but I am going to try it...My Thursday Thoughts are sporadic enough...Jenny started this and I guess it does help to type out loud my mis-steps in life this week...Is there a limit to how many words can be in a blog?? Hope not...because I am a major mis-stepper...

1-I have eaten cereal for dinner for at least 2 nights this week.

2-I practically ate a whole Monte Cristo sandwich...and the homemade chips and spinach dip that came with...but boy was it YUMMY!

3-I did eat a small strawberry cheesquake blizzard...but I did have to drive for over an hour to get it! Oh, and I ate it while I was driving...on the turnpike...

Why are all my confessions so far related to food...weakness maybe???

4-I had my first wreck (fender bender, really) ever as a driver. No, I wasn't eating a blizzard at that time...I thought I was going to hold that streak to a lifetime...but yeah, thats not going to happen...stupid rain...and people are supposed to go when the light turns green, right...I did...

5-I scheduled my appointment to get my first tattoo!!! Nov. 11th!

6-I was totally disrespectful to a 168 year old DJ...I tried not to be...but come on fella...

7-I have a basket of laundry that still needs to be put up from last Saturday...horrible I know...

8-I used Suave 2-n-1 Cowabunga Coconut Shampoo/Conditioner that I have in my shower when Lil Man visits...on my hair twice this week...I kept forgetting to put my shampoo in the shower...hey, at least I washed it...and it did smell nice...It was either that or body wash...

9-I was going to be very late for work one day (not the car wreck day)...so, I packed up my makeup and put it on after I got there....walking with my head looking down to the ground so I wouldn't scare anyone...

10-I went to try on clothes and left them ALL in the dressing room...coming from a retail background...that is one of my pet peeves...but I did it...

11-I told 2 kiddos (in a friendly way) at the store to slow down and stop running...I was looking out for their safety...their mom gave me a dirty look...and I couldn't see my face but I'm sure it was expressing what I was thinking: "I wouldn't have needed to tell them if you would have..."

Wow...I'm sure there are probably more...I don't think I like numbering them either...so...are you on board? Going to have a Confession Session???

So...Sunday (after the sweet 16 party---I updated the post with pictures---check it out) Sara and I met Lil Man's mom and grandparents since his visit was over...

Where I live we do not have one of these:

But there is one not far from where we met up with the fam...I have been craving a stinkin blizzard since the summer commercial showing a girl scout thin mint cookie blizzard...ok, evil people...don't advertise in an area where the closest DQ is almost an hour away...

They were packed too...only like 3 employees, but shortly after we arrived someone opened the gates and the line practically went out the door...people in front of us were starting to bail...wimps...Sara and I stood our ground...we were not going to be intimidated by the mom and grandma with 54 kids ordering ice cream...we did not come all this way to just turn around and go home...no sir...we will not be shaken...or stirred...

Almost 30 minutes later we emerged from that small town DQ victorious! It was a hard decision as to what type of blizzard to get...I decided upon the strawberry cheesequake (the employee wrote cheesequack...that made me laugh).
I hold my trophy with pride:

As does Sara:

We had to head back home...

Only to enjoy the heavenly blizzard along the way...

Ok...so, it's been awhile since my Sweet 16 party (which when I locate the pics...I will definitely have to tell you about it)...but I did go to my cousin's this past Saturday. Let me just tell you, there were some HI-larious happenings...I will list them for you:

1-The DJ was at least 168 if he was a day...nothing against senior DJ's but hearing him say "Pussy Cat Dolls" or "Girls, let's hear it for the Jonas Brothers"...was a little odd...more on the DJ later...

2-Lil Man knows how to dance!

Ladies Man:

Most guys that dance with me are shorter...

Shout...get a little bit louder now:

How low can you go?

Tuckered out:

3-I needed to wear my police shirt to have those girlies tone down their dancing...But even though Sara and I are in a police class we went in our street clothes:

4-Speaking of cops...yes, they showed up...too much bass---Mr. DJ was even back talking the cop...you can see this in the left hand corner...didn't stop me from moving though...

5-We "adults" requested various songs that we knew the teen crowd would probably cringe at...such as You Give Love a Bad Name, The Chicken Dance, Cotton-eyed Joe, Thriller, Shoop, etc...Their responses were funny...but they still danced...

Here I am singing You Give Love a Bad Name to Ashley...and yes...I know every word...

6-I had to relearn the Electric Slide...

DJ Happenings:

*He made an announcement in the middle of like the second song, "Sorry for the interruption, folks, but I have lost a lens to my glasses. If you find a lens that looks like this (strategically holds up his frames) please return it to me"...OK, I think if anyone did find a lens...it would have been his...

*When I went to request my first song I asked if he had You Give Love a Bad Name...he said that he had over 60,000 songs. So I replied...then you probably do...

*I went to request Hangin' Tough by NKOTB later and he gave me an odd look...during the next song he announced, "I only have New Kids on cassette and it didn't make it to my database." OK, Mr. DJ...I thought you had over 60,000 songs...and no NKOTB???? That must be one of the 7 deadly sins of DJology...

*He then walks over to my table, leans over and tells me that he doesn't have New Kids...I'm thinking...I heard your announcement, please back away...He even accidentally spit in my face several times while he was talking...I was trying to be polite...He made the comment that they (NKOTB) were probably his age....Ummm...no, sir...then he started talking about Social Security...was this really happening? Going from NKOTB to Social Security??? BTW...lots of spit action when he kept saying "S"ocial "S"ecurity...Sufferin' Succotash...

I couldn't see my face...but I'm sure I was looking at him like this (very attractive I know), plus I definitely needed the napkin:

*Now on to the Chicken Dance...We "Fly" girls are all on the dance floor in a circle flappin' our wings and such...the circle rotates and I get to be infront of the DJ "booth" during stage 3 of the chicken dance: the hiney twist...he then announces, "Shake that booty"...I so stopped...Someone please take the mic from this pervy, over salivating DJ...

*OK....now Thriller is being played...the DJ adds in his own howling during the beginning...no joke...

We will forever have these memories for Ashley's 16th B-day party...too funny!

I'll have to get the info for the DJ from her mom, but I know everyone wants him for their next shindig...just don't let him say "shindig" as he hovers over you...
